Folkways Label

The record label design typically used by Folkways.

Folkways records was an Independent Record Label that was mostly focused on making records of the traditional music of the world, especially North America. The Anthology Of American Folk Music was released on this label.

Folkways was started in 1948 by Moses Asch and Marian Distler. It discovered and re-discovered many folk performers. Some of which were: Lead Belly, Woody Guthrie, and Pete Seeger. When Moses Asch died in 1986, The Smithsonian Institute acquired folkways, and merged them with a few other folk labels. Folkways has made more than 2,368 albums since its creation.
