In the years following the release of The Anthology Of American Folk Music, Folkways Records, The Library Of Congress, and various other labels sent scouts to find out if any of the performers on this compilation (or their contemporaries) were still alive, and if so, where they lived. Many Folk performers were re-discovered and given new record deals, and began to come to Folk Festivals. Some of the more well-known ones were: Lead Belly, Furry Lewis, Son House, and Bascom Lamar Lunsford.
